This photo shows an erythematous, tender nodule with surrounding erythema at its base and a central keratinaceous plug which is typical for a squamous cell carcinoma, kerataocanthoma type. Squamous cell cancers are the second most frequent form of skin cancer, representing about 20% of all skin cancers diagnosed.
