The pinkish flat areas which constitute the greater portion of the lesion are amelanotic in character. The borders are certainly irregular. There is a partial clearing zone noted around the most of the lesion. The malignant melanoma is a very serious and aggressive form of skin cancer. It is responsible for approximately eight thousand deaths a year and appears as an irregularly shaped area of uneven coloring.
