Herpes Simplex Image 3Return to Index

This is a classic presentation of herpes simplex on the cheek with grouped papulovesicular lesions of recent onset. Itching is not unusual at presentation. A regional lymph node may be enlarged and slightly tender. Therapy is effective. One of the more common problems encountered in dermatology practice is herpes simplex (also known as cold sores).
