Fire Ant Bite Image 1Return to Index

This image shows multiple superficial pustular lesions clustered around an ankle. Pustules normally suggest a bacterial infection, but in this case they represent a reaction to the bite of fire ants. The presence of pus is not always an indication of bacterial infection. These pustules would be sterile on culture.
